On December 15, 2025, we took over the construction site for the implementation of the work "Reconstruction of the psychiatric pavilion of UNLP Košice - Pavilion XIII". The work is to be handed over by 08/2026.
The main function of the proposed reconstruction is the expansion of the existing premises of the psychiatric department, which cannot cover the capacity requirements in terms of the number of patients or the number of procedures performed. The designed object is L-shaped in plan with total external dimensions of the sides of approximately 23.9 x 18.1 m and consists of two above-ground floors and one underground floor with a partial basement. It is covered with a hipped roof with a wooden supporting structure of the truss of the prison system, the roof covering is made of cement-fiber roofing of the ETNERNIT system. The building is designed to house a psychiatry department with examination rooms and an inpatient section on both above-ground floors, while the basement contains changing rooms for staff, a teaching room, a gym and technical rooms. The total proposed capacity of the department is 18 beds. The main entrance for the public, supplies and logistics is located on the eastern side of the building from the intra-campus access road, at the level of the intermediate landing. The main interior staircase provides access to the individual floors, which, due to the "L" shape of the building, are naturally functionally divided into two parts: the inpatient section with patient rooms and the outpatient section with examination rooms, preparation rooms, offices and facilities for staff and patients. The tea kitchen is planned to prepare drinks (tea, coffee), and the meals for patients and medical staff will be provided by a tablet system from the existing central hospital kitchen. In order to solve the fire safety of the building, an exterior covered fire escape staircase will be added to the existing building with an extension located in the western part of the building. In the bed area, there are 4 medium-standard double rooms with a shared sanitary core and one single room of the highest standard with its own sanitary core on both above-ground floors. In addition, there are nurse's station areas, preparation rooms, examination rooms, doctors' offices, day rooms, kitchenette, dining room and smoking room. In the basement of the building there is a teaching room, occupational therapy room, gym, hygienic facilities for patients, changing rooms with facilities for staff and students and technical spaces. The attic spaces are uninsulated, uninhabitable and without further use, there is only an air conditioning recuperation unit.
