Reconstruction of the psychiatric pavilion of the UNLP Košice – Pavilion XXVI.

23.12.2025

On 15.12.2025, we took over the construction site for the implementation of the work "Reconstruction of the psychiatric pavilion of the UNLP Košice - Pavilion XXVI". The work is to be handed over by 08/2026.

The purpose of the reconstruction/reconstruction of Pavilion XXVI is to restore a state in which conditions will be created for the safe performance of the required functions, for increasing the value of the space and for effective and economical operation.
Renovation priorities:
- extending the life of the building and its technological equipment
- eliminating unsatisfactory construction and technical conditions (OHS, property protection)
- achieving energy efficiency of the building
The main function of the proposed reconstruction is to expand the investor's existing premises, which cannot cover the capacity requirements in terms of the number of patients or the number of procedures performed. The proposed building has a rectangular ground plan with total dimensions of approximately 27.7 x 17.8 m and consists of two floors. The building will house a psychiatric department with examination rooms and an inpatient section on both floors. The main entrance for the public, supplies, and logistics is located on the first floor from the northwest side of the building. The main entrance leads to the entrance hall, from where the entrances to the examination rooms, the facilities for doctors (day rooms), the staircase connecting the upper floors and the entrance to the inpatient part of the department are located. The inpatient section has 6 double rooms of the highest standard with its own sanitary core, a central nurses' station with a connection to the nurses' day room, a dining room, a kitchenette and a smoking room. The tea kitchen is planned to prepare drinks (tea, coffee), and meals for patients and medical staff will be provided by a tablet system from the existing central hospital kitchen. The second floor is designed similarly, with entrances to the doctors' office, day room, teaching room and inpatient section from the stairwell. The inpatient section is identical to the first floor, with 6 double rooms and facilities. A new exterior escape staircase has been built in the rear part of the building on the southeast side.
