Orderer: Univerzitná nemocnica L. Pasteura Košice
Supplier: Združenie UNLP Košice – Modernizácia VII. pavilónu a Chemkostav, a.s.

Basic information

The subject of the solution is the VII. pavilion of the UNLP with the existing extension of the auditorium block, which is connected to the building via the mezzanine of the central staircase and via a connecting corridor in the underground floor. The extension, of which the auditorium is a part, is not a protected monument. The VII. pavilion currently serves the needs of the Institute of Pathology of the UNLP. The auditorium block is currently unused due to its state of disrepair. The underground floor of the VII. pavilion is also in poor condition and most of its spaces are currently unused. The designed building has one underground and two (three in the central mass) above-ground floors. It has a tectonic character with distinctive cubic and cylindrical masses of high artistic value. The building is eclectic with Art Nouveau elements. As a result of increasing demands and operational requirements, the building has gradually undergone several structural modifications. Perhaps the most striking is the completion of symmetrical elevator blocks on the northeast side and the extension of the central block from the southwest side, which is dominated by the lecture hall. The purpose of the reconstruction of Pavilion VII and the auditorium block is to restore a state in which conditions will be created for the safe performance of the required functions - the psychiatric clinic and to increase hygiene and operational standards. Creation of a functional and aesthetic environment meeting the needs of current psychiatric facilities with regard to the quality of the indoor climate, the well-being of patients, employees and visitors to the building. The subject of the energy efficiency requirement is the reconstruction (replacement) of all existing technological equipment in order to reduce energy consumption during the operation of the building and improve the quality of the indoor climate and the well-being of users.
